Maintaining your Van Vossen E-Boat

An electric boat from Van Vossen E-Boats is known for its reliability and low maintenance costs. While petrol-powered boats need regular servicing, maintenance is much simpler with an e-boat.

We recommend servicing your Van Vossen E-Boat once every 5 years. During this inspection, the main components are checked and adjusted where necessary, so you can continue to cruise without worry. This includes replacing the motor bearings and changing the oil in the oil chamber.

A major advantage of electric boating is that maintenance costs are considerably lower than with a petrol engine. There is no engine oil requiring regular changes as in a combustion engine, and fewer moving parts mean less wear.

Running costs are also much lower. A full battery charge costs only a fraction of a full tank of petrol. This makes electric boating not only more sustainable, but also a smart financial choice.

One consideration is that an electric boat generally costs more to buy than a comparable petrol-powered boat. Over time, however, lower maintenance and running costs offset this investment.

The hull of a Van Vossen E-Boat also needs little maintenance. Aluminium has an ageing process of around 100 years, so it requires very little attention. We recommend pressure-washing the underwater hull once a year and checking the anodes beneath the boat for wear, so they can be replaced in time.

As standard, we do not use polluting, cost-increasing antifouling, helping keep maintenance costs lower and boating more sustainable.

We use LiFePO4 lithium batteries developed in-house. These batteries are maintenance-free and designed for a long service life. An on/off button lets you switch them off easily during winter storage without adversely affecting the battery.

We advise charging the batteries fully (100%) before winter storage. Battery pack lifespan depends on both the number of charge cycles and battery age. Our lithium batteries are rated for around 3,000 charge cycles, with an estimated life of approximately 10 years. After that, whether the remaining capacity is sufficient depends on your usage.

With a Van Vossen E-Boat, you choose convenience, lower costs and years of boating pleasure.
